The numbers of car in the world reached one billion in 2013 according to a study made by UN to support a debate of the topic “what the rapidly-growing car population will mean for the world's economy and environment”. Another important data is the carbon emissions have hit record high levels that it has been driven by the large numbers of car in the world. Transportation "currently accounts for 23 percent of the world's greenhouse-gas emissions," Brad Plumer wrote at the Washington Post. Despite these figures, the world population want to buy more and more cars. Until 2010 the proportion of cars per UK inhabitant were 519 / 1000 and the UK reached the 34th position in the world in quantity of cars per inhabitant and in the SAN Marino were 1263/1000 and It reached the 1st position. Is clear for me that something should be done, in special about alternative forms of transport, but I disagree about control of cars production and consumption. In my opinion the world leaders need to stimulate the searches about electric vehicles and alternatives to carbon fuels to avoid carbon emissions and they should develop an efficient and cheap public transportation to discourage the population to buy more and more cars.
